I have never been a fan of Crocs. I always thought they are totally ugly, no matter how comfy and/or practical they may be.
However, my opinions have recently changed. At BlissDom I received a gift certificate for a free pair of Crocs, which I happily decided to redeem, because who doesn’t love free stuff? Only shortly before the conference I had heard a few other bloggers talking about Crocs’ new shoes. As in actual shoes, and not gardening clogs.
As I browsed the selection to choose my free pair, I found a really cute one (see below) but I also found out something else that showed me that there’s more to the company than an ugly flagship shoe.
Crocs has a unique recycling program, called SolesUnited, which grounds up old shoes, and then remakes them into new shoes to give away to those in need. I love this program because, rather than throwing away shoes that are too worn out to donate to Goodwill, the shoes are simply remade into new, wearable ones for others. This is good for the environment and for humanity. Go Crocs!
And, it gets better. If don’t have any Crocs that are worn out, but you want to get a pair, consider this new shoe, that is made partially out of recycled material (20%). For each of these pairs sold, Crocs will donate a pair to SolesUnited. Love that!
Now, as I look at the company Crocs in a much more positive light (although I still will never buy myself a pair of the originals), check out my adorable new wedges (I got my second choice in color but, hey, they were free, and they are still very cute & retro)…

And well, what can I say, these actually do look cute on a little Chiquita like mine (We just got them on Craigslist for $3!), and she loves them.

So thanks, Crocs, for the free shoes, and for caring about the environment and poverty.

Hey now…. the original crocs are great for slipping on to take out the trash, get firewood, walk the kid to the bus stop. And who wants to go outside on wet pavement @ 4am to let the puppy out…crocs are perfect to slide on. But, I bet you would wear these ones if you had them http://shop.crocs.com/pc-1315-4-los-angeles-dodgers-beach.aspx?navcategories=3,18 There’s probably still time for you to get them before your trip!

Crocs are fine for yard work, or if you have to stand on your feet a lot, but for the office – even a casual one (or anywhere else for that matter)….NO.
I’m glad you found such a cute pair of shoes!

Actually your Crocs are cute and I did see another friend of mine that had cute ones. The ones I saw on the guy at the theater were the ones that you wear out in the garden, and he was wearing them with socks. Those are the really ugly ones that shouldn’t be allowed out in public.
