My husband and I recently purchased a condo in Southern California. We had owned a home in Australia, and were able to use the profits from selling that back in 2006 to buy here, what an amazing blessing!
The place is a little older, and has some older touches, but nothing so dramatic that we couldn’t move in.
However, the kitchen is pretty ‘original’, lacks function and has seen better days.
My wonderful husband agreed with me that the first project we attack should be the kitchen, and has let me research and plan until my heart is content, and after all that careful planning we are almost ready to begin.
We are trying to do this makeover on a budget, and have some great friends who are helping us achieve that.

We purchased white thermofoil cabinets made by American Classic Kitchens from Home Depot. We are fortunate in that all but one of our cabinets is a standard size, and that we could buy them off the shelf, which saved us a considerable amount. Next weekend we will be attempting to demo the old kitchen, and put in the new cabinets.
Come back next week to find out how the demo and cabinet install went, hear about choosing granite, finding amazing deals on appliances and all the other little things we will be doing to make this kitchen beautiful. I will also let you know how my temporary kitchen is functioning (think toaster oven and washing dishes in the bathroom).
