About

Who Am I?

nicole aka gidget

Hi, my name is Nicole, or as I like to affectionately refer to myself, Gidget!

I’m essentially a stay-at-home mom, but I wear a lot of hats. In fact, I’ve always thought of myself as having many different personas. At this point in my life, my identities include:

  • following Jesus
  • being a wife to “Moondoggie”
  • raising my daughter “Chiquita”- 2 years as of now (born 5/07/07)
  • attempting to be a writer/crafter/jill of many trades, master of none
  • teaching Spanish (temporarily retired)
  • seeking a simple, natural, handmade lifestyle
  • loving being a California girl

What is Home?

To me, home isn’t about the house we live in. It’s more than that. Home is attempting to be content and at peace with where I am– physically, spiritually, emotionally. Home is where daily life happens; it’s where we laugh, eat, sleep, play, live. It’s where I experience life as a wife, mom and writer.

It’s wherever the Lord has us for the time being… a comfortable place… a useful place… a beautiful place…

“Ah! there is nothing like staying at home for real comfort.”
-Jane Austen, Emma (1815)

Great to meet you, Gidget! I went to college in Colorado and oh how I miss the sunshine and the mountains! I found you via Baby Cheapskate this morning. Happy blogging!

Nicole,
This whole blogging world is so new to me and seems so comfortable and natural to your generation — I’m feeling old and yet so inspired! Anyway, I LOVE your blog and although we’ve been in Bible study together for “a season” and now your heading back to CA, I’m amazed at how much we have in common and that I really didn’t know it! I wished we would have spend more time together. You are an AMAZING woman and I am inspired by the person you are and how God has gifted you! I pray He will allow our paths to continue to cross and I will miss your JOYFUL spirit and wisdom beyond your years! I know God had great things in store for you. Let’s keep in touch.

Hey Nicole!

Believe it or not, we’ve met—I’m Amy Estes from good old Rocklin and I grew up with Carly and “Moondoggie” and the rest of the “B” clan. It’s fun to find your blog and read it—really great tips.

Hope you’re doing well, and say hi to your husband for me :)

Great to “meet” another Christian blogger, especially one who I can “meet” in real life in a few days at Blissdom. I cannot wait! Come up and say hi if you spot me.

Hi! I found your blog googling “diaper sprayer!” Haha!!! I was so happy to find your blog–not only because it will save me at least $20 making my own diaper sprayer! I, too, am a SAHM who, like you tend to be “a jill of many trades, master of none!” (brilliant!) I’m re-vamping my blog, but soon I’ll have one up and running. I love your blog, and also how you fit your faith in so naturally. Oh, and thanks for the the tutorial–my husband will love it!! ;)

I love how you say, “attempting to be a writer/crafter/jill of many trades, master of none” that’s totally me too!
