Day 15: Community FTW! (or, why I love secret FB groups)

secret facebook groups for the win! This is Day 15 of 31 Days of Intentional Community. Thanks for reading along!

We're halfway through the month. Hard to believe on one hand but on the other hand, it's a relief. I have so much more to say on this topic but so little time and motivation to open my laptop these days. But I'm powering through, if nothing else because I'm growing through the discipline of following through, and also because I've been giving a passion and a heart for this and it feels good to let it out on the blog.

Today's topic is simple. I will probably talk about social media and the blogging community again this month, but one thing I've been really blessed by is the secret group feature on Facebook. It's really redeemed Facebook for me in fact. I visit my groups more than I read through my feed or anything else facebook-y. I know some people get dragged down by the drama that can ensue from social media, but these groups have almost consistently been a positive thing for me.

I'm in blogging-related groups mostly but also my amazing Hello Mornings group, a few swap-and-sell type groups, a few of special-interest groups (such as classical homeschooling and GAPS kids) and even have a group for the ladies of my CG. Some groups are made up of real-life/local friends, others include bloggy friends (some I've met in person, others I haven't).

Have you experienced community in ways that have surprised you?
